Suspects Arrested on Drug Charges in Little River County

Officers with the Little River County Sheriff’s Office and the South-Central Drug Task Force arrested two suspected drug dealers on Friday February 3, 2017.

According to affidavits filed with the Little River Circuit Court, Texarkana residents Lindsey Clayton, 39, and Alton Ashley, 42, were stopped for a traffic violation Friday afternoon on US Highway 71 between Ashdown and Ogden.  While conducting the traffic stop, officers observed Clayton attempting to hide several items from their view.  In order to ensure their safety, Officers had Clayton exit the vehicle.  When she did, they observed a glass jar full of marijuana in her car.   A further search resulted in officers discovering over 13 grams of methamphetamine in different packaging, along with several drug pipes, small bags, and a set of scales.

Both subjects admitted to officers that the methamphetamine was to be sold in the Ashdown area.  The two were arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance(s)with the Purpose to Deliver.  Due to the amount of drugs the officer’s discovered, the charge will a Class A Felony carrying with it the possibility of 6-30 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000.  The car they were travailing in was impounded as it was used in the commission of a crime.

Both Clayton and Ashley are currently in custody awaiting a first appearance in Little River Circuit Court.
